Welcome Back to the Silverado Family, Indy!

Silverado Southlake recently welcomed a new feline friend with a very special history – she used to be the community cat at a former Silverado location!

Indy’s Silverado story began more than four years ago, when the community she lived at changed management from Silverado to another company. She remained there to keep the residents company and comfort them with her loud purring. In late 2022, the new managers of Indy’s community decided to close its doors and she was left without a home.

In May of this year Texas Pawprints Cat & Kitten Rescue in Irving, Texas contacted the Silverado Home Office because they had come into possession of Indy, who was still wearing her tags from the former Silverado community she had called home. The rescue was put in touch with the Silverado Southlake community, about 25 miles northwest, and as luck would have it, they were looking to adopt a new cat!

A few days later, the rescue brought Indy to Silverado Southlake and she was welcomed to a brand new home with a familiar loving family. She started right where she left off – happy to love on residents, families and associates, and taking well-earned sunbaths whenever she can.

Pets are a huge part of Silverado’s culture – from the pets in our communities and hospice animal therapy programs to the many four-legged friends who are fixtures in the Silverado Home Office. Pets bring life and joy to the environment, and often can make connections people can’t. We’re overjoyed that Indy has come back to the Silverado family, and we can’t thank Texas Pawprints enough for everything they do to help homeless pets!
