Rose’s Winning Pitch

We love the spring at Silverado - a time of renewal, growth and... baseball! Al of these elements came together in the story of resident Rose Arrington and her journey at Silverado.

When she first came to Silverado, Rose's health was so poor she couldn’t walk or even feed herself. In just a matter of months, she was feeding herself, taking part in a cooking club, outings, other activities, and walking. Not only was Rose on her feet - she won a baseball throw competition - a feat that was immortalized on the New York Times' Time Square Jumbotron!

The transformation, significant enough, is particularly notable because Rose was 100 years old and had moderate memory impairment. Her daughter credited the swift change to the care program and what she calls “the love and positive attitudes” of the Silverado staff.
